A few weeks ago, a colleague of mine introduced me to TRX suspension training and although I couldn’t move for almost two days afterwards, I LOVED it.
I started to look for TRX trainings in Vienna and stumbled across in good shape where they offer various indoor & outdoor workout sessions. I plan to do TRX regularly since I truly believe there’s nothing better to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously.
In good shape is also the first studio in Austria to offer Pound – a new trend workout from the US.
Together with Anna, Vicky and Mr. Victorypug, we got the chance to try different workouts at in good shape. Anna & Vicky already wrote about their experiences with the TRX Training and you can read their posts here & here. Therefore I’m going to tell you a little bit more about Pound today.
Pound feels like Rock band meets Zumba meets Pilates :)
Pound uses weighted drumsticks (called Ripstix) to create a full-body toning experience by combining Pilates, cardio, plyometrics, and isometrics movements. A 60-minute Pound class will burn up to 600-900 calories (yep, you heard right) while still having fun and connecting with your body in a unique way. After trying it one time I already went back for a second class two days later – it got me hooked instantly!
The workout combines easy to follow (and not complex or embarrassing) cardio moves with strength training and drumming. This combo works the entire body, raises the heart rate to a fat-burning zone, and forces each move to be as precise as a basic beat.
